Spring 2017 Natural Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome, if you are new here 💕💕💕

With summer right around the corner, it is about time I posted my spring favourite things, don't you think? At first I didn't think I would have any favourites, because this year so far has been the most difficult in my life, and until very recently I was crying non stop - it was one bad thing after another, and I do hope to God that will be the end of my bad luck. But as I am slowly getting back to normal life as we know it, I noticed there are a few things I enjoy, so let's get into this post and see what they are, shall we? In no particular order:

💕 Crystals
I have to admit I don't know much about them or their powers, but I recently started collecting them, and here's my current collection:

💕 Walden perfume in A Different Drummer
A rather recent addition to my collection, but I can't put it down ever since. I don't know about you, but perfume is highly personal for me, and I am so picky when it comes to it, I can easily reject 95 out of 100. I don't like "girly" smells, anything floral, citrusy or powdery is a definite no from me, and this is none of those things, it has sandalwood, amber, and pepper with cedarwood. I have a review of it here if you want to see?

Walden natural perfume in A Different Drummer
💕 Lotus Wei Infinite Love mist and anointing oil and Joy Juice elixir
Lots to do with healing, I do enjoy using those little rituals, if I can remember them, that's it. You are supposed to use them five times a day, and I don't know about you, but I constantly forget about them. That probably means I don't experience their healing abilities to the full potential, but what I can do about it, set an alarm clock 5x daily? I do what I can with these. If you want to see my review on them, you can click here.

Lotus Wei Infinite Love

💕 Nude By Nature mascara
This mascara was a surprise favourite from the bunch of Nude by Nature goodies I got, and for one simple reason - it does not FLAKE!! A first for green beauty mascara for me. I am on a last leg of it, and will definitely repurchase, and once I do, I will probably do a separate post of it, as my tube somehow got a dent in it, and it wouldn't look good in the pictures. For the most part I don't wear mascara on my lower lashes, but for testing purposes I did, and I had no problems with flaking or smudging. Flaking is a big pet peeve of mine, and this one does not, it did not flake from the beginning, and it still does not do that now, 3-4months later. Admittedly it is drying up and getting a bit clumpy now, but still, no flaking! Impressed! (find review of Nude by Nature here).

Natural make up by Nude by Nature, Axiology and Eco Minerals

💕 Bolder and brighter lipsticks
If you know me for any length of time, you know I am not a lipstick person at all, but this spring I wanted a few bolder/ brighter lip products for some reason, and that's exactly what I got. I haven't shared it on my social media much if at all, I did a Insta Story, but they disappear quickly, and I think I forgot to post them anywhere else? Whoops! But here you go, my new fave lip products!

My new "fashion" sunglasses and pink & red lipsticks

💕 New "fashion" sunglasses
I don't know about you, but my new purchases are always my favourite purchases, and I tend to wear things to death once I get them, until the novelty wears off and they become "normal things". Mr Anti Social Media Green Life In Dublin dislikes them with passion, but hey, what do men know about fashion, right? Nothing like new things for a new look (I also cut off about half of my hair recently) to make woman feel a new woman.

💕 Fresh flowers
I always deemed fresh flowers an expensive habit, but you can get roses and gerberas for as little as 2€ and 4€ in Aldi, so I started having them on a weekly basis, and they do bring joy to my heart. Simple pleasures in life, you know?

💕 Teas
Speaking of simple pleasures, here's one more - I love having a few cups of tea a day! I choose green tea or matcha when I can afford it for the mornings, but as I am really sensitive to caffeine, I can't have any caffeinated beverages (I am talking about teas here, I gave up coffee a while ago, and "sports" drinks or sodas I waved goodbye to long time ago) past 2pm, so I started looking for my next favourite caffeine free tea - Pukka is one of my faves now, especially three tulsi one, and I still really enjoy red bush tea (post here) with ginger, lemon and honey, to which I started adding fresh turmeric now, it brings another depth of flavour, not to mention healing turmeric properties. Camomile tea is a firm fave for years, but I do get bored with it rather quickly, so I always rotate my teas. Mint tea is also something I really like (and it is good for digestion) but only from my mother's garden - if you ever had fresh mint tea, you will get me - it is next level tasty, and nothing found in the shops compares to it. I always ask my mom to grow and dry LOADS for me, and every year without fail she hands me two handfuls of mint. And always surprised expression when I ask for more next year. Err, thanks mum?

💕 Mists and toners
After ignoring them for the last hundred of years, I now have to have every single one there is in green beauty, and I am constantly on the lookout for more. I was pretty upset when Ormus Myst from ISUN Skincare ran out (review here btw) and Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator, I am coming for you!

💕 Wooden shelfie for my skincare
I have a confession to make - I looove TKMaxx! Some people hate it, some love it - I happen to love it, as I love hunting for my treasures. I go in with an open (but a strict budget, mind you) and recently I find trading the clothes for homewares and the like. I found this awesome handmade two tiered shelf with metail details for mere 22€ and I couldn't be chuffed with it more. Skincare pots found home.

💕 Reading
I always enjoyed reading, but leading a busy lifestyle (that's like all of us!) I am way past my 10 books per month I used to have, it is more like 1 per month these days, but I still want/need to read. I find myself reading more and more non fiction these days as I constantly want to educate myself on one topic or another. See my current reading list here, and I also added three more to the list too. Oh, and I am in the middle of Keith Richards autobiography too - for some reason bad boys of rock fascinate me. Some of them I find even more cool/alluring after reading their bios (step forward Slash) and some lose their idol crowns in my eyes (Anthony Kiedis). I want to read all rock and roll autobiographies there is, so if you have a copy you no longer want, send them my way! Just kidding! Not really :)

My current reading list

💕 Marie from And The Color Green
Last but not least, it's this awesome fellow green beauty blogger and Youtuber, and I have to say I love her Youtube videos more and more! Her natural sense of humor shows through in every single videos of hers, and even though she talks serious stuff most of the time, I can guarantee I will be in better mood by the end of her video, and I have to love her for it. Don't get me wrong, I don't watch her videos for comedy value, far from it - she does green beauty videos, exact stuff that I like to watch, reviews, hauls, Mask It Mondays and more - I find a lot of value in her videos on specific ingredients, because it is clear she puts a lot of work into them - when was the last time you read a scientific study about ingredients? Yeah, I know! I will leave a link to her Instagram and Youtube below, and if you don't follow her already, you know what to do.

Marie from And The Color Green

So that's it for today. What have you enjoyed recently? Please share, I would love to know!

Love Lula Beauty Box May 2017

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome, if you are new here 💕💕💕

Love Lula May 2017 Beauty Box

Today I am excited to share with you my first Love Lula beauty box from the same online green beauty store. They ship worldwide, and the price is 13.95£ monthly recurring for UK and for us international gals there are two options of three months (52.50£) or a year (210£) including post and packaging. Green beauty boxes are a great way to discover new items you might have missed otherwise, and I love that anything coming from LoveLula is cruelty free and guaranteed not to have any toxic ingredients - they have very strict criteria for any product they accept, and that is taking the guesswork off your shoulders.
I am yet to try any of these products (or most brands for that matter), although I already have PHB lipliner and the detangler, unused still.

So, let's see what's in this month's beauty box?

💕 Oragio London Styling Mist For Natural Hold And Volume RRP £16 for 60ml

Created by independent London hair salon, the products are packed with organic plant extracts and essential oils, helping to condition hair and make it strong and shiny. This full-size pre-styling treatment is designed to boost volume and help to make hair more manageable. The complex MICROKERA, made up of hydrolysed keratin (protein usually found in hair) and argan oil, helps to repair damaged hair. Among other ingredients, you can find lemon zest which boosts shine (and smells amazing), soothing oats and nourishing pro-vitamin B5.

Ingredients: aqua, panthenol*, argania spinosa kernel oil*, hydrolyzed keratin*, tocopherol*, beta-glucan*, hydroxypropyltrimonium honey*, saccharum officinarum extract*, citrus limon peel extract*,coco-glucoside*, pantolactone*, polysorbate 20*, parfum***, chitosan*, lactic acid*, algin*, gellan gum*, maltodextrin*, malic acid*, polyquaternium-10*, phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, benzoic acid, sorbic acid*, dehydroacetic acid, ethylhexylglycerin*, limonene**, linalool**, citronellol**, geraniol**, citric acid**, eugenol**, citral**
*naturally derived ingredient
**naturally occurring in essential oils
***100% natural essential oil blend
Vegetarian (contains beeswax), organic, UK brand

💕 Laidbare DIY! Two in One Cleanser And Toner RRP £6.99 for 125ml

Laidbare is the brand I've yet to try, but from my research I can tell it is renowned for their affordability yet still delivering the natural ingredient list. This full size two-in-one product promises to remove all traces of makeup, even eye makeup. The front of the tube proudly says there are no petrochemicals, sulfates, parabens etc. in Laidbare products. However, the ingredients label lists sodium coco sulfate as the second ingredient, which is somewhat misleading. Sodium coco sulfate is derived from coconut alcohol and it is low hazard ingredient (rated 1 on EWG). We all know my skin is uber sensitive, so we will see how I will fare with this. It might go to my teen daughter who's battling acne. This is one of the two full size products in this box, and it might be the one for you if you have non reactive skin and looking for a natural and affordable cleanser?

Ingredients: Aqua(water), sodium coco-sulfate(coconut), cocamidopropyl betaine(coconut), decyl glucoside(coconut), sodium chloride(sea salt), glycerin(coconut), benzyl alcohol(naturally derived preservative), coco-glucoside(coconut), linomene (essential oils), citrus medica limonum(lemon)peel oil, sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate, citrus aurantifolia(lime) oil, parfum, sucrose laurate, lauryl glucoside(coconut), dehydroacetic acid, tocopherol(vitamin E), citric acid, alcohol(coconut), aloe barbadensis(aloe vera) leaf juice, ), citral (essential oils), sodium benzoate(naturally derived preservative, pumica granatum (pomegranate)seed extract, camellia sinensis(green tea) leaf extract, glycyrrhiza glabra root extract, bertholletia excelsa(brazil nut) seed extract, purus malus(apple)fruit extractcitric extract(citrus fruits), potassium sorbate(naturally derived preservative).
Vegan, UK brand

💕 PHB Ethical Beauty Gentle Moisturiser With Shea Butter and Apricot RRP £16.95 for 50ml

This brand is on my radar for quite some time, so I am really stoked to get this! Another full sized product, it is aimed specifically at people with sensitive skin with simple yet effective ingredients like aloe vera and sunflower oil to calm, soothe and moisturise the skin prone to irritation. The formulation is scent-free to prevent upsetting the fussiest of the skins. Right up my alley then! Unfortunately this will have to wait it's turn, as at the moment I am using another moisturiser, and I decided to keep only one product open at a time (in each category), but I am really curious! Review will be up in a couple of months, pinky swear! I also own a lipliner from this brand, and by the time I will put a review up, I think I will pick up more products.

Ingredients: Aqua, Aloe barbadensis** (Organic Aloe) leaf extract, Helianthus annuus** (Organic sunflower), Butyrospermum parkii** (Organic Shea Butter), Cetearyl alcohol, Stearic acid, Cetyl alcohol, Veg Glycerin**, Prunus Armeniaca** (Oranic Apricot) Kernel Oil, Phenethyl alcohol, Caprylyl glycol, Glyceryl stearate, Coco glucoside, Tocopherol, Phytic acid, Benzyl alcohol, Sodium Bicarbonate. **Ingredients from Organic Farming
Vegan, organic, the UK brand

💕 John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo for Normal Hair and Citrus and Neroli Detangler RRP £5.50 for 60ml each

Another brand I am really interested at the moment, so I am happy to see not one but two mini products from it. These two travel-sized bottles are an excellent way to try before you splurge on full sized bottles (which are quite expensive) or just toss into the gym or a weekend bag. JMO have a high proportion of organic and high-quality ingredients. My only complaint? Although the brand uses many fabulous natural ingedients, they also use Japanese Honeysuckle extract which is present in many of their products. This ingredient has a questionable reputation of being a "natural paraben", hence I try to avoid it and I do not use products containing it on a regular basis. (100%Pure also use this ingredient in almost every product of theirs). I wish companies didn't use it, as I don't want to use anything that would throw my endocrine system out of whack. I mean, I already battled dermatitis, I have to be really careful now. We will see.

Shampoo - Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera leaf juice) gel,* aqua (water), decyl glucoside, sodium lauroamphoacetate, sodium cocoyl sulfoacetate, babassuamidopropyl betaine, panthenol (vitamin B5), lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil,* rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil,* hydrolyzed soy protein, wheat amino acids, sorbitol, symphytum officinale (comfrey) leaf extract,* chamomilla recutica (chamomile) flower extract,* lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower/leaf/stem extract,* urtica dioica (nettle) root extract,* equisetum hiemale (horsetail) leaf/stem extract,* achillea millefolium (yarrow) extract,* camellia sinensis (white tea) extract,* salix alba (willow) bark extract,* lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, guar hydroxypropyl trimonium chloride, linum usitatissimum (flaxseed) seed oil,* borago officinalis (borage) seed oil,* helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil,* simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil,* tocopherol, sulfur, glycerin * Certified Organic

Celebrate The Soil Association Organic Beauty Week and enjoy 15%off organic brands

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

So there is that wonderful time of the year where The Soil Association Organic Beauty and Wellbeing Week is happening on 15 - 21st May and I am so excited because it is happening!
If you happen to be in London, you can attend fabulous events and pop up shops in at Protein Studios, New Yard Inn, Shoreditch, London and meet the makers and movers and shakers or the organic beauty week, as well as panel discussions, workshops and talks from some of the very best in the organic beauty & wellbeing businesses. click here for more info. I must say I envy you if you can make it there. I want and must attend some myself some day! So curious and interested, you have no idea! While lots and lots of things are happening in the UK, here in Ireland I feel like a lone soldier in a field.

If you also happen to be not in London, fear not, we can also join in the fun in a way, I suggest signing a Soil Association petition to #comecleanaboutbeauty to stop greenwashing from happening, and also enjoy the discounts some brands or webshops will be offering. You can also follow SoilAssociationBeauty Instagram page here. Let's talk about these things separately and then I'll give you my two cents on how to spot truly natural product in between of misleading ones, ok?

First of all I wanted to ask you to sign the Soil Association petition to stop greenwashing here (if you haven't already) - I feel it is about time things changed, because as we all know greenwashing is rife and unfortunately there is currently no legal check that products which say they are organic  or contain organic ingredients. This means that products can claim to be organic when they may only contain one or two organic ingredients. A product may claim to be natural with only a few natural ingredients in it, or even just a drop of essential oil. Worse still, they may contain ingredients which wouldn’t be permitted in a genuinely certified natural or organic product. Packaging can trick us by using words like “organic”, “eco”, “botanic”, “pure” and “natural”, whilst containing near to no ingredients to back up that claim. -loophole allows companies use anything under the sun, add less than 1% of organic ingredient and make big claims on the bottle. And the way the system works, these harmful ingredients have to be proven to be unsafe to be take off, and even then it is not the end off the story. The companies are not told but rather suggested to take harmful ingredients off, and even if they decide to do so, they have two year window to do so (can you believe this?!) so that is why you still see harmful and proven carcinogenic ingredients around. So I always say that before you even read the big claims on the front of the bottle, flip it and read the ingredients list. Soon you will be able to tell the difference. Look for ingredients you can understand (and pronounce) and whether they are first ingredients in the list (meaning they make the bulk or the base of the product) or are they waaay down the list, and the base is actually bunch of chemicals you can't recognize? Guess what? If you can't understand the ingredient, your body won't either.
We have all been mislead at one point or another, I know I've been there too - at the start of my green beauty journey I though TimoteiNaturals and Johnsons&Johnsons Natural were the real deal and those big chains finally started taking care about people's health. Oh boy how wrong I was! That was 8 or 10yrs ago, before I discovered The Soil Association and EWG, way way before ThinkDirty or any of those apps happened. So I had to educate myself the hard way, researching all the chemicals one by one, and let me tell you my head was spinning - you almost need doctor's degree to understand all this and my friends started joking that it is like a full time job for me. In a way it was, but thankfully we have come a long way since, and there's no need to go head first, there are plenty resources for you to choose from. Don't forget my blog among them - insert blushing emoji here!

So here are my two cents to avoid greenwashing:

💕 Look for the logo
Soil Association Organic is my most trusted body, as they have the most strictest criteria of them all, but there are many different ones, familiarize yourself with them. You may see "made with certified organic ingredients" written on a lot of products, but this is exactly the grey or greenwashing area i was talking about. Yes, the product may have certified organic ingredients indeed, but how much of it? That is why I love companies like Neals Yard Remedies, who clearly state a percentage of organic ingredients, and majority of them tend to be 75% and up, and yes, I will take that! 100%organic? Happy days, even better!

💕 Check ingredients, look for natural ingredients you can understand

💕 Get Think Dirty or similar app

💕 Check your products on EWG Skin Deep Database
But do take it with a grain of salt, the website is outdated by a couple of years at least, it does not have ratings for any of the new products, plus it tends to tar synthetic and natural ingredients with the same brush (fragrance for example, there's a huge difference in conventional "fragrance" which is up to 200 of synthetic chemicals and fragrance coming from natural essential oil, and yet EWG treats it the same. You can also make your own report by registering as a user and putting in the ingredients of the products you want to check - your search won't be visible to the masses, but you will get a peace of mind.

💕 And don't fret too much if you are just starting out, replace products one by one
(I remember being super stressed and overwhelmed and plain confused at the time of my own switch, and the way I did it, I went minimal with my body care, basically just DrBronner's soap and coconut oil for moisturising, and stopped using make up for a few years (partly because I was still in my twenties and sort of got away with it, partly because it was super hard to find and non appealing, try fifty shades of beige with terracotta mixed in. Thankfully now we have abundance of clean products to choose from, check out my post on where I shop and where I am on the green beauty spectrum here. Also, one more suggestion which you might find useful if you are just starting out (and surely will know about this if you are more or less advanced in the green beauty) - go to Instagram and search #greenbeauty and #greenbeautycommunity - I promise you, you will be in for a treat and might fall in into a rabbit hole of a green beauty everything for hours on end).

And now the good news - let's talk about some discounts, shall we? I know I love discounts, and who doesn't, right? If I will happen to know more fabulous discounts, I will make sure to to let you know, and for now, happy shopping!

Live In The Light Online Store Review

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕 products
I must be on the roll, third blog post in three days, well done Renata! Umm, what? I needed an intelligent conversation, if only with a mirror. All that joking aside, I wanted to draw your attention to a fabulous online shop based in the UK that I am sure all my fellow green beauty sisters will love. The shop is called Live In The Light and they have the same name on all social media, I will be linking their Instagram page down below, and don't worry, that's not affiliate link nor I am paid to talk about this. Nor I was asked to do a review on them, this is entirely my own doing. Just sharing good stuff. And good stuff it is indeed. When I was asked if I want to try Pure Anada or something else from their store, I checked the website immediately and I was really satisfied with what I saw, they carry my beloved Pure Anada, which I've reviewed before (link here), AnnMarie Gianni line, which I've been dying to try for absolutely ages, Orgaid organic sheet masks, and a few more brands, like Carina Organic and Live In The Light, as well as Vonbros for men in our lives. An that's it - there's something really refreshing not having a ton of brands to choose from, so you are not overwhelmed, and whatever you will choose from this website, it is guaranteed to be truly natural, be cruelty free and more often than not, organic. (The products might even be all organic, I didn't check every single one of them). We all know there's a lot of greenwashing going on, when brands claiming to be natural are still packed with toxic chemicals. Guess what? Not here! The brands were hand selected by the owner Sue, who has a holistic approach and firmly believe that what we do and use in our daily regime has a huge impact on everyone and everything around us. There appears to be many like minded people out there who don’t want to carry on using harmful products but want to use exceptional, beautiful and effective ones while at the same time are helping to preserve and respect our environment. I am so so happy about it, it is time people woke up to what's really in their products! And I applaud Sue for contributing to the better world by bringing all those amazing products to us. As the webshop is based in the UK, it is good news for my fellow European green beauty sisters - it means we can skip those pesky custom charges and pay less in shipping too. Hopefully this won't change post Brexit. I must add that they ship worldwide.
Orgaid organic sheet mask

Anyhow, let's get back to the products, shall we? You can choose from make up, skincare, haircare, bodycare, nails, baby products, men's products, candles - they have everything! As you can see in the picture, I got a chance to try a few gorgeous goodies that were new to me, and I got way more than I asked for thanks to generosity of Sue - thank you again, it is very much appreciated! For the last couple of week I've been testing everything and I am almost ready to give my two cents on the products - let's just say they are all amazing. I will publish separate reviews on AnnMarie Gianni products and on Pure Anada ones as well, I simply don't want this post to be too long, but I promise to link those reviews back to this post once they will be live. If I could recommend you some products, my top choices would be AnnMarie Gianni Neroli mist, Grounded perfume and mineral foundation; Cinder brow powder, Marine Minerals hydrating toner and hand cream from Pure Anada - all amazing products, and I want all of them in full sizes.

Pure Anada products

AnnMarie Gianni skincare and perfume samples

AnnMarie Gianni Earth Minerals sample pack
I think that's it for today, I reserve a bit more time before I will post a reviews on all these items, I mean the make up and the hand cream are easy to test, but I like taking my time with skincare, from 4- 6 weeks, as that time frame is the only way to tell if skincare makes a difference. So please bear with me and I will see you here again shortly with reviews. If you have any pressing questions about any product, you can always ask, either here or on Instagram.

I hope I helped you to discover new fabulous online store with really clean products! Have you tried anything from them already? Please share with me :)

Walden Natural Perfumes Review

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

Walden Natural Perfume in A Different Drummer

Today I am coming at you with a review of some fabulous natural perfumes that came into my life recently, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.
Walden Perfumes are 100% natural and made from the finest absolutes, resins and essential oils in the world. They are named after Henry David Thoreau’s seminal novel Walden. Part meditation, part handbook for simple living in natural surroundings the book has inspired countless readers and Walden Perfumes is proud to follow in those footsteps. Offering a natural alternative to mass-produced fragrances made by industrial processes and shilled by celebrities, Walden Perfumes is proud to return to the glory days of real perfumery when fragrances were made by hand in small batches from natural ingredients of the finest quality. They are housed in simply stunning bottles, they are very simplistic, but elegant, there's chunky square glass bottle with a wooden lid and a simplistic label. The fragrance feels very decadent and luxurious to me, exactly the way I like my perfumes to be. There's five scents to choose from.

A Little Star-Dust: Ylang Ylang, Iris & Jasmine with Amyris & Tonka Bean
(Finalist for 'Best Natural Beauty Product', Natural & Organic Awards Europe 2017)
A Different Drummer: Pepper, Cedarwood, Amber, Amyris & Sandalwood
Castles in the Air: Citrus, Tropical Flowers and Lavender
The Solid Earth: Petitgrain, Vetiver, Patchouli Oil & Amyris
Two Eternities: Wild Roses, Jasmine, Iris, Bergamot & Sweet Orange Oil

I chose "A Different Drummer" one as it appealed the most to me, and I am pleased to say I got it right (sandalwood and amber - yes please!) - I can't stop oohing and aahing over it ever since I got it! I fully intend to try samples of them all as the time goes by, "A Little Star Dust" is calling my name too, but I am sure "A Different Drummer" will be in my favourites forever. When first applied, it can be a little heady and strong, but soon sinks into your skin and transforms into a natural scent that smells classy and exotic at the same time, almost one of a kind! I like not smelling like everyone else, and that is exactly that type of a smell. Choosing fragrance is very personal to me, and that is why I am so picky about it, I reject 95% of the fragrances easily. That is why I am so chuffed with myself for getting it right from the very start with Walden. The scent can easily be worn by men or women, I noticed my hubby sneakily using it too. I simply adore this scent and I am simply under the spell and utterly in love with it! I look forward to wearing it - that is saying something, believe me. Natural, Organic And Eco Beauty & Welness Empties - Spring 2017

Hi Lovelies!

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

The blog post name is quite a mouthful, isn't it? Say that three times fast!

And now, without joking around some more, let's see what I've finished in March and April, shall we? As I wrote here, I am well on my way to minimizing and downsizing my collection. I definitely don't like wasting my products, and I want to get down to one open product in each category, with some exceptions in make up.

I've been doing very good with sort of no-buy in the first quarter of the year, until the lid came off at the end of March, and I started shopping around, but I am proud to say I only got what I needed, without any impulse buys, and hopefully it will stay that way. Minimising feels good!

March 2017 Empties

Here is another portion of my natural empties and the stuff I am throwing away, mainly due to expiration reasons. Some of the stuff has been reviewed on my blog, some of it escaped my scrutiny so far. If I have a full review, I will link it.

100%Pure Gemmed Lip Gloss in Peacock Ore

This is my favorite lip gloss in the green beauty universe, as it closely resembles my previously loved Juicy Tubes (check my review on them here). I bought it last May and got some use out of it last summer, but it is time to part ways as it smells really bad now, like really bad. I might repurchase it come summer (fishing for a good deal obviously) but I will make sure to use it a lot more, as this seems like only one centimeter down. My own fault entirely, not a product downfall. I knew about short shelf life and just didn't use it enough.

100%Pure Lysine and herbs lip balm

Really great natural product, Carmex dupe for me (see my post here in the case you missed it) and I might repurchase it come next winter, but it is definitely the time to let this one go, it is more than a year old, and 100%Pure stuff is only good for 6 months. I haven't used it this winter as I only got one cold sore and I remedied it with garlic. One word of warning though, if you are really sensitive like moi, don't put it on the whole lips or it will burn it off, only on the cold sore itself!

Carob and sage oils x2 (not pictured)

Bought a year ago while holidaying in Crete and used maybe twice - big whoops! Time to let them go instead of keeping them sitting on the shelves expired.. Not a repurchase either. I am well on my way to downsizing my collection, and feeling happy about it.

100%Pure mascaras x2

My original review can be found here, but after getting seven of them from this brand I am giving up - four of them came old, reeking of alcohol, not the usual pleasant blueberry scent - and as their EU customer, I already deal with custom fees, so I fee this gamble of will-I-get-a-good-mascara-or-will-it-be-off shouldn't be happening in the first place! If you get a mascara from them and it smells of alcohol, not their usual blueberry (or chocolate) scent, complain to them, and don't let them pull wool over your eyes - I was once told their mascara “has that fermented scent to it” - no it bloody does not, and if yours does, it means it is old! It is a pity, and this decision to not repurchase my favorite mascara is heartbreaking for me - the formula and the ingredients are fantastic, it does not flake (pet peeve of mine) and you can build it to your liking, plus it lasts about six months - if you get a good (fresh) one that is!
P.s. Naturisimo is now stocking this mascara, as well as other 100% Pure make up, so if you are from EU and want to try this minus delivery and custom fees, now you can. Good news for me, but sadly they don't stock my beloved Gemmed lip glosses (as well as anti aging lipsticks). I wrote to them asking to include them in the selection they carry, and hopefully they will listen?

Urban Veda Sandalwood toner for sensitive skin (not pictured)

Technically not an empty, as I decanted it into a spray bottle and binned the original packaging. But I wanted to mention it here in case I will forget to later. I got mine from LoveLula.

Mahalo Bean mask

Review can be found here, it is a gorgeous mask and I highly recommend it if you want to treat yourself, but due to the price and owning a few more masks at the moment, I am not repurchasing for now. Maybe one day when/if I will decide to treat myself.

Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Suds cleanser

My thoughts on this can be found here. I am sad to say that this went bad on me after about 4 months, even though it is supposed to stay fresh for at least six - it smells awful now, and with my sensitive and dermatitis prone skin I am definitely not trying to use it anymore. Not likely to repurchase either, again, due to the price point (at this point in my life I can't afford 40 or 50€ face wash) and owning a couple more full size items I also need to finish. Sorry Ava!

Green Frog Botanics hand soap

Review can be found here. Really clean ingredients non sudsy soap from LoveLula. Not sure if I am repurchasing any time soon, but that is due to the sheer amount of products I have to go through before I will purchase anything. Bloggers problems much?

Solgar vitamin D 2500iu

Very good vitamin D supplement from a brand I trust, I started taking it when my dermatitis was at it is worst and it is something I will continue to keep taking. Many of us tend to think of vitD as something our bodies make naturally and only babies need to take it. It is very far away from the truth - most of us are quite severely deficient in it and not many of us know that vitD is not only a supplement, but also a hormone needed for 300+ body functions daily.I am not telling you to take this strength, but I highly recommend you do your own research on it and go check your levels. I have another one already.

100% Caffeine Sheet Mask

These are amazing, I love them! I always say they make your skin red carper ready, and that is not a lie - I always reach for them when my skin is freaking out, if I get red patches there, dryness here and some weird breakouts, it takes care of all of them in one use. Review post is here, and make sure to read it because I share my frugal tip on how to make them last three times as long, and no, I don't suggest wearing the same mask over and over!
A repurchase? Yes, I have 8 of them.

Himalayan Salt

I used this pack for a detox bath. The only salt I use for cooking.
A repurchase? As long as I will live.

Epsom Salt

Again, a repurchase for life. You will rise from the bath a different person.

Weleda Calendula Toothpaste

Weleda has many great products, this is not one of them. Great clean ingredients, but it tastes like swamp and doesn't clean my teeth properly, after just one hour they have this weird coating on them.

A repurchase? No thanks.

Vogel Echinacea tincture

I always make sure I have this in winters to boost my immune system and cut down on sickness. This is included into my Natural Arsenal Against Colds And Flu post, which you can check it out here.
A repurchase? For sure.

Hurraw balms x2

I love them so much, great natural ingredients, nice formula, and I forever am upset when I find out I ran out of it. I get mine from LoveLula, but these are widely available. (not here though, health shops in Dublin tend to stock cheaper lip balms, which is why I buy mine online as an add-on to my orders).

Burts Bees lip balm

Got a bunch of them last year in post Christmas sales, because these were one of the first products I switched once I transitioned into green beauty, so it was a sentiments driven purchase, but I am not repurchasing them, partly because Burts Bees is not a cruelty free brand anymore (their parent company isn't cruelty free, which makes Burts Bees not cruelty free in my opinion) and partly to finding firm favourites when it comes to lip balms.
A repurchase? No.

A true classic when it comes to the green beauty - I love the truly clean ingredients! I feel everybody and their mother has or has tried it at this point, so we won't be talking about obvious things here, because who has time for that, right? Let's just say it is a repurchase for life for me, and I wish it weren't twice as much the cost in EU as it is in the US.

April 2017 Empties

Natural, organic and eco empties

Manuka Doctor Manuka plus Tea Tree antiseptic gel UMF18

Acquired for my hubs who is breaking out in weird places, and this really helps. I got it from Holland & Barrett for 8€, but I want to get Living Nature manuka tea tree gel next (they have two sizes, 50ml and 10ml) as it is so much cleaner in terms of ingredients. Trouble is my hubs is going though this at blink-and-you-will-miss-it rate, so that would be kinda pricy habit to get into! Let's hope his skin heals faster sooner than later.
A repurchase? Yes, I have a new one already. Correction - he got it himself.

Zao concealer + lipstick in 464 (not pictured)

Great products on their own, review can be found here. Trouble is I wasn't reaching for them, so when the opportunity came to pass those items on, I did. Better to give them to someone who will use them rather than having them sitting and slowly expiring in my collection. Correction - these are not bad products, I am not using any of my make up in general lately. (apart from mascara and concealer, of course. Umm, I don't want to scare people) And I will be decluttering more soon.
A repurchase? Not this particular ones, but some other products from the brand for sure!

Real Techniques Stippling Brush (again, forgot to picture. Pardon moi)

First brush acquired from RT as soon as they came out with their line of brushes, and that was 7years ago? 5 years? It is still in good shape as I take good care of my brushes, and besides this was used very little. The thing is, this is designed for sheer coverage, and I am looking for completely different finish when I do wear makeup occasionally. Also, this brush handle became sticky for some weird reason - I definitely didn't leave next to the heat source or anything, I didn't use it or store it any differently than my other brushes, but this is the only one to become sticky. I assume it is certain type of plastic was used, and maybe they changed it later on, because all my other RT brushes are not like that, but my hairdryer handle is exactly the same, and it drives me crazy because it attracts dust and hair, and it is impossible to clean off properly. I will ask around if someone wants this, if not, it will be goodbye to it then. RT are really good brushes, and I have many from their line, and I love them all. Apart from this guy.

Burts Bees Shampoo

A firm favourite in Green Life in Dublin household, my hubby enjoys it the most, as his really sensitive scalp is not irritated in the slightest (like with all other shampoos) and his backne also disappeared when he started using it.
A repurchase? Yes, for years. A staple.

Bare Minerals mineral veil SPF25 and mineral concealer

I know, I know, don't judge! I know BM is frowned upon in the green beauty community, and I don't use it anymore too. In my defense, I bought a set years ago, and it wasn't used much if at all. The foundation powder that came with these was gifted to my non natural friend long time ago.
A repurchase? Not at all. I tried to use concealer for a few days and it gave me contact dermatitis due to bismuth oxychloride. So I went on to get Alima Pure mineral concealer, because I really liked the non creasing-ness of a mineral powder concealer. is creasing-ness even a word? Well, now it is :) A little note if you are interested in my two cents on Alima, I am not fully satisfied with it, not enough pigment to cover dark circles, I need to build like 4 layers. But more of it in the upcoming posts.

W3ll People Narcissist Foundation

This expired on me and I am throwing it away. Partly due to my own fault, I stopped using it after being not fully satisfied with it (it didn't last on me) and I simply left it in the make up drawer and started reaching for other products instead. I am on the fence about this product, and not sure if I am repurchasing either - it already had that sort of crayon smell when I bought it, and it was a red flag for me - I feel like I got an old product to begin with, and as that was my first foundation from them, I don't know the difference in smells on how it is supposed to be. It also went really fast when I was using it, so I feel I would have to repurchase it quite frequently. If you will decide to get this, keep in mind that it gives medium coverage (does not build to full) and it tends to break down after 4hrs. At least on me. I might come back to this product in the future, I don't know yet - but only if I will be able to check it out in person before buying. I got mine online and my shade is 3. I will review it eventually, promise!

Orgaid sheet mask

I got this organic mask in a beautiful package from, you might have seen it in my Instagram. I don't have a firm opinion on it yet, it is very hard to judge something after just one use, isn't it? It felt hydrating and my skin was brighter and plumper after using it, but it went back to a slight redness a few hours later. I need to try a few more of them before giving my thoughts on it. So please bear with me.

Lily Lolo mineral foundation samplers x5

I have bought them a year or so ago, to try it out and find my shade, but I am not satisfied with the foundation itself, it clings to the dry patches, even just one layer of it makes my skin look dry, flaky and matte, (without any coverage) that is the exact opposite of what I want. I also need a million layers of it and it still doesn't give me the coverage I want, so what is the point of keeping using something that is clearly not for me? It is a bit puzzling, because there's no clay in the formula, foundations with clays in it tend to do that for dry skin. Many of you love this foundation, I am aware of it, but after many many attempts I have to throw my hands in the air and part ways with it. Thankfully not all of mineral foundations are created equal, and I enjoy Pure Anada on so much better. Review here if you missed it :)

Beautiful Movements foundation samplers x5

This brand was started by Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyat with her friend years ago, and that's when I was sent them, but since then the brand changed the name (and possibly hands) at least two or three times, as well as changing the formula for the worse each time, so let's not waste anyone's time and forget about them. Now they are called BeautifulMe and available in Holland and Barrett. I wouldn't get them personally, but it all depends on your purity level, really.

So that is all I finished in two months - whooping 67 product this year so far. It is amazing to what the numbers are adding up if you start keeping track of it.

What have you guys finished lately?

Lots of Love,

Green Beauty Bloggers Haul / Spring 2017

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome back! And if you are new here, welcome 💕💕💕

So, there is that time of the month again.. No, silly, not that time, the time I show you what I acquired as a blogger in the last month or two. This first quarter of the year has been very quiet for me in terms of shopping, until the end of March, where I blew the lid and started spending money like crazy person - well, I only got a few essentials I needed, plus eye wateringly expensive Living Libations haul, but we will get to that in just a minute. During my time away I stopped all PR samples and I didn't want to shop either, but after three months of no buy I kind of lost the plot. Still, I feel I’ve done good with three months of no-buy, and I used up way more products than I bought, which I am also pleased with. Next month might be a different story. Umm, my finger slipped? When browsing online shops. Multiple time. So I have many packages coming my way, brace yourselves!
By the way, in these blogger haul posts I tend to focus on beauty things, but I also buy a lot of health/ wellness things, and I  am not sure if you guys want to see those kind of things or not, please let me know in the comments? I would love to know! This time around I will include them, but I will drop them if you are not interested.

So, without further ado, let’s see what did I acquired?

March haul

Small haul from Super Natural UK shop
Balm Balm mini, organic wash cloth and Nourish Argan skin renew face cream 15ml mini. These were won in their giveaway as a secondary winner.

Five Whamisa samples
Three small bottle minis - face wash, toner and double rich lotion, and two sachet samples of regular and double rich lotion.

Living Libations dental products

Living Libations order
I only got there dental items plus a book, but the total was over 127€, which to me is eye wateringly expensive! I hope the items will deliver! I got ozonated gum gel, gum drops and frankincense toothpaste, Nadine Artemis “Holistic Dentistry” book and two minis of their shampoos. I have been curious about Living Libations forever now, and as soon as I learned EU stockist that would carry what I am interested in (as in dental care stuff and poetic pits as oposed to their The Best Skin Ever everyone else is stocking) I placed my order. Needless to say blog review is coming soon.

Kimberley Sayer Ultra Light Facial Moisturiser SPF 30
I bought it from I actually used it last summer and was going to post a glowing review, but recently I saw Balanced Beauty Bristol Sasha’s video and she talked about also being really happy with this sunscreen until one day she burned her nose badly! She was saying something about very bad summer with basically no sun, aka she was happy with the cream, until one really sunny day came along and this cream didn't do it's job, aka she got burned. And I was like, right, the last summer really was crappy and maybe that's why I thought this cream worked so awesomely well for me? So I am witholding my review as for now and will see how it will hold up this summer. Other than protecting qualities, this face SPF cream is the first not to break me out and leave horrible white cast on my face, so it is really great in that retrospective. And I have a few grams of pure zinc oxide, so maybe I will brainstorm  a DIY powder sunscreen to go on top of this on those really sunny days? We will see.
On the side note, prior to getting this, I was testing Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF30 for a week - and as much as I desperately wanted to like that sunscreen (I mean, have you seen all the glowing reviews on it?) I have to say it broke me out. Oh, the joys of really sensitive and reactive skin, right? If you have any facial SPF recomendations with really clean ingredients, suitable for sensitive skin, no white cast and needless to say no nano particles, please share with me, you will have my gratitude forever!

Lotus Wei Joy Juice Elixir
I am continuing my Lotus Wei journey, and this time I got an elixir, my friend Andrea from Orgsnic Beauty Lover says these work so much better than any topical products, so elixir it is! Post emotional trauma joy is definitely missing from my life.

Hurraw Sun and Moon lip balms
These are a staples for me, tried quite a few of Hurraw bslms and I am yet to come across the one I don't like. When I ran out of Moon balm which I religiously use at night, it has never been the same, and I am so glad we are reunited! I bought these from

Vapour Stratus Primer (sample)
I am deadly curious about this since it was included in Beauty Heroes box a good while ago, it made people look amazing in IG photos!

Wellness/ Health / Superfoods
Aduna Baobab powder 275g - bought mainly for vitC content, but it has so much more to it (see my post here) and I am very happy to incorporate it into my daily life.

Aduna Moringa powder 100g
Haven't looked much into it, but will be happy to try.

Maca powder
This is now available very cheaply in Aldi, and I wanted to try and compare to maca I have had in the past.

Organic Cacao powder
For making my very own clean chocolate. Let me know if you want a blog post on it.

April Haul

Human and Kind products

Human & Kind
They sent me three full size products as well as giving my readers a fantastic 50%off in their website. Enter the code "Blogger" as a coupon code and leave my blog handle in the comments. How fantastic is that? I don't know many offers like this. See more info here.

Giovanni hair mouse
Not for die hard purists out there, but in my defence this is the first mouse in more than eight years, this is available in Love Lula, from which I always buy stuff, and I didn't want to kill myself researching the best and the most natural mouse that would work and wouldn't cost the earth too. So Giovanni it is for now, and once more, your suggestions for clean hair mouse is very welcome. Oh, it has to be available from withing EU please.

Hurraw Papaya Pineapple lip balm
Bought from (can you tell I love shopping there?) I love anything pineapple, so naturally I was dying to try this. For the longest time this flavour wasn't available in Europe, but as soon as I learned it is now available in Love Lula, I had to get it asap. Bought in the same order as Giovanni mouse, Organic Surge hand wash, plus a few samples.

Organic Surge Hand Wash
I find it lovely, nice texture, nice smell, non drying at all, most likely to repurchase. Got in the same order as above items. Link here.

Manuka Doctor Manuka + tea tree oil gel
Got this from Holland & Barrett, as my hubs is breaking out in weird places, so I thought this might help, and it does, although I am not really happy with the half natural ingredients, I want to get Living Nature one next, as I was really impressed with the sample I had.

Child's Farm shampoo and detangling spray
I used this for years on recommendation of Rachel from All Natural Aspirations. Boots used to carry this brand, then they stopped for a year or two, and now it is back, and thanks goodness for it! I wish the detangler came in more scents rather than Tea Tree and Grapefruit - kids don't like scents like these, and it is kind of hard to persuade them to use it. Shampoos and body washes come in nice scents like orange and strawberry, why not this?

Epsom Salts
I buy them for a fiver for a huge bag from TKMaxx. (see my post on what you can find there here - it is one of my not-so-best-kept-secret spots for finding natural goodies).

Alima Pure concealer in Linen
I was looking for powder concealer and was debating between this and Lily Lolo one, which was cheaper, but contained filler in a form of kaolin clay. Clays are really drying on my already dry skin, and not wanting crusty looking undereyes I went for Alima Pure. Not really happy with pigmentation of this to be honest, I have to apply five layers to look half decent. But if you love their foundation powder (I not so much), you might love this too. Bought this from Naturisimo together with the Jason toothpaste.

Jason Toothpaste
I am on forever hunt of a good natural toothpaste that would have really clean ingredients, and as well as boycotting fluoride I also avoid carageenan and glycerine in my toothpaste, the latter is coating our teeth, preventing them from self mineralising themselves, and carageenan is destructive to the digestive system, it turns to acid in the stomach, and has links to cancer, and it is something I would rather avoid! But, having said all that, all the natural toothpastes who do not have those ingredients don't clean my teeth properly and more often taste really bad (Vogel and Weleda, I am looking at you here!)  and I tried all of them there are to find in the health food stores, so in a depressed moment I bought this Jason toothpaste, which contains those questionable ingredients, but I probably won't go there again. Even DrBronner's toothpaste has one or both of those ingredients I would rather not use, and that is way pricier. David's toothpaste calls my name, but I am not sure if it hit EU shores yet, and I am certainly not buying toothpaste from US. The struggle is real you guys! If you know really clean toothpaste that would't contain carageenan and glycerine, and more importantly do it's job properly, please let me know?

Laila London charcoal toothpowder
Laila is relatively new UK brand that do natural toothpowders (and more) and in my quest for clean dental product I bought it in Boots. They do have remineralising toohpowder too, which I am after, but of course Boots do not stock that, instead focusing on charcoal trend, but I am happy they have at least that for sure. Great ingredients, cleans the teeth really well, and it is slightly whiteing due to the charcoal too, but only one or two shades lighter, don't expect ad-worthy Hollywood smile from it. I didn't, so I am happy with the product.

100%Pure haul
They had a very good deal at the end of April, and as I haven't bought any new makeup this year, I fell for it. The total was 80€ which is expensive for me, but I feel I got my money's worth from it, even though I had to buy the bundle for 30€ myself, it wasn't a gift this time. See this post if you have no clue what I am talking about. I haven't received it yet, and I don't know if I will be slapped with those dreaded custom taxes yet (hopefully not!!) So this haul will go into May post.

Annual Neal's Yard Remedies haul
One day after I spent all my money on 100% Pure, I got an email saying NYR have 20% off sale, which meant 40% for me (I am techically a consultant, as well as my only customer, pushing products on people is not for me), so I did my annual order not waiting for the end of summer. Again, this will go into May post, as I literally ordered in the last day of April.

LiveInTheLight goodies
Live In The Light package
I was contacted by the lovely Sue from to see if I would like to try anything from their online shop, and I immediately said yes! I mean who wouldn't? Of course I inspected the shop and ingredients of the products they carry, and I am pleased to say that everything is really natural, which is right up my alley! The brands include Pure Anada (which I knew I will love, see the review here), Orgaid, AnnMarie Gianni, which I was dying to try for ages, and more. Really chuffed with the generous package, and expect reviews of products really soon.

That is it for today. What did you guys get recently?

Lots of Love,
